THE MAGIC and mystery of the Forest of Dean will be shown in all its glory on telly this Saturday.
Puzzle Wood, near Coleford, has been used as a location for BBC One’s fantasy drama Merlin.
Mary O’Connor, from the tourist attraction which has a mile of pathways winding through 14 acres of scenic ancient woodland, said: “We are very excited and it was brilliant, we had the two main stars here and have been watching it since it has been on television.
“It is good Saturday night entertainment and we would very much like them to consider us for future filming.”
Film crews worked their magic shooting scenes for the drama that follows the early life of the wizard wonder from Arthurian legend.
Actors Colin Morgan, who plays Merlin, and Bradley James (the young King Arthur), spent three days filming there in October.
Saturday’s episode is called The Labyrinth of Gedref. After Arthur kills a unicorn while hunting he is warned that he must make amends or the kingdom will face ruin.
Mrs O’Connor added: “The unicorn was actually a horse that was brought over from France and then a horn was attached, it was the most beautiful horse.
“Hopefully the show will help put the Forest on the map and bring more people to the area.”
Merlin will be screened on BBC1 at 7.35pm.
